International law firm Trowers & Hamlins is to continue as main legal advisor to Enfield Council on its flagship £6bn Meridian Water regeneration scheme.
The firm is working on the major project with the council’s in-house legal team to develop the overall strategy for delivery.
Trowers & Hamlins worked on the development of the framework for infrastructure delivery across the scheme, as well as the successful procurement of the first phase delivery partner – Galliford Try Partnerships. This involved the first use by a local authority of the new Greater London Authority's London Developer Panel 2 Framework.
The Meridian Water development will provide 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs and in the initial phase called Meridian One, Galliford Try Partnerships will create 725 homes with the aim to build the first properties by 2022. Trowers & Hamlins is currently advising on the second phase of the project, Meridian Two.
Scott Dorling, housing and regeneration partner at Trowers & Hamlins, said: "It's exciting to be involved with projects such as Meridian Water that have such a significant positive impact on society; it’s at the heart of what we do and are passionate about.
“As one of the largest housing led development projects in the capital it will make a significant contribution to the new homes needed to our growing capital city and significantly add to the many and varied employment opportunities in the borough.
“The scheme addresses all aspects of regeneration, from affordable housing to employment, infrastructure and integration, and our continued work has been extremely rewarding. Our involvement in this project has been exceptionally comprehensive, involving experts from across the firm. We are extremely proud to be involved with this fantastic project."
