Sewage works firm shortlisted for award

A sewage works facility in Edmonton has been shortlisted for a major global engineering award that is being put to the public vote.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is celebrating engineering skills through the ICE People’s Choice Award, and Deepham Sewage Treatment Works has been shortlisted for the prestigious accolade.

The facility is the fourth largest of its kind in the UK and treats wastewater for more than one million people in the Thames Water area. A recent upgrade at the site was completed by the firm without disrupting day-to-day operations.

Martin Hoff, head of major projects at Thames Water, said: “Rebuilding and upgrading a live work could not have been achieved without the teamwork and collaboration developed and honed with our partners AMK throughout the project.

“Our aim was always to contribute a sustainable and innovative upgrade for the benefit of Londoners and we’re very proud to have achieved this.” The winner of the ICE People’s Choice Award will be announced in November.
